                                      AEROLINEAS CUTS LOSSES
Since the state took over Aerolíneas
Argentinas and Austral airlines, the monthly
losses of the two companies were cut by
                                      40 percent, Transport Secretary Ricardo
Jaime said yesterday. In statements to the
press, Jaime said "in June, the last
month in which Spanish firm Marsans was
still managing both companies, they lost
60,860,000 dollars, while losses were reduced
to 35,538,000 dollars after the state intervention."
                                      "The improvements were the immediate
cause of the recovery plan launched by the
government, which invested 25 million dollars
to expand the companies fleet by 30 percent,"
                                      Jaime said.
